Trap

Trap is a subgenre of electronic dance music (EDM) that originated in the early 2010s, combining elements of hip hop, dub, and electro. It is characterized by heavy basslines, fast hi-hat patterns, and often dark, atmospheric melodies.

Trap music evolved from Southern hip hop in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Producers began incorporating electronic elements and heavier bass, leading to the distinct sound that would eventually be recognized as EDM trap. The genre gained popularity through online music platforms and festivals, with artists like TNGHT (Hudson Mohawke and Lunice) and Baauer popularizing the sound.
